Description

This course aims to:

- Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an aquaculture farm hand

- Lay a foundation for further studies in this or associated areas

- Train indigenous people to facilitate good aquaculture practices in a contemporary environment. It aims to provide them with the knowledge and skills to further develop their land and water and to participate in the expanding aquaculture industry in the Kimberley.

- Give an understanding of specific requirements for adding value to the community food resources as an introduction to commercial farming or value adding to the existing industry

- Validate and reinforce the traditional culture and beliefs of indigenous people, providing an understanding of applied animal husbandry concepts and techniques, which will be complemented by indigenous knowledge and practices.
