Access to a wide range of pamphlets/information about services or agencies delivering health related services.
Access to representatives from at least two organisations to describe the roles and functions of their organisations with participants either face to face or through audio-conferencing.
Explanations and perspectives given by participants are grounded in:
unique cultural knowledge and values and are cognisant of the cultural diverse background of participants
Participants will have the opportunity if applicable to undertake literacy extension Units directly related to this module
Awareness of and access to Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
Participants must be made aware of Health and Safety at all times and in all contexts..

Critical Aspects of Evidence
Assessment requires evidence of the following products to be collected:
Documentation to be collected includes:
Plan identifying the steps in planning a field experience/or health related field project
Resource Folder: In the section headed 'Field Experience' compilation of a directory containing: pamphlets, written descriptions/drawings and addresses of agencies/services relevant to the health of a community.
Completed time-table illustrating 40 hours spent in a designated organisation or on a health related field project
Personal occupational health and safety standards implemented and observed during placement or the health related field project are identified

Assessment requires evidence of the following processes to be provided
Discussion or negotiation to enter an organisation for to complete field experience or undertake a health related field project

Resource Implications
Required resources will vary with each primary health care project. Trainers must view each project from an Occupational, Health and Safety aspect and need to discuss this with the individual regarding the requirements and dangers involved in their project.(eg. if participants choose as their project to clean up broken glass that is causing injury in the community they must have a strong pair of gloves, appropriate footwear and an action plan on what to do if injured.)

Assessment Context
This Unit is to be assessed in a classroom and in an organisation delivering health related services to the community or in the local community . Assessment should be flexible and require minimal English numeracy/literacy skills

Consistency of performance
Competency in this Units needs to be assessed on multiple occasions involving a series of direct, indirect and supplementary forms of evidence

Performance Level 1 describes the competency needed to undertake activities efficiently and with sufficient self-management to meet the explicit requirements of the activity and to make judgements about the quality of outcome against established criteria.

Performance Level 2 describes the competency needed to manage activities requiring the selection, application and integration of a number of elements and to select from established criteria to judge quality of process and outcome.

Performance Level 3 describes the competency needed to evaluate and reshape processes, to establish and use principles in order to determine appropriate ways of approaching activities, and to establish criteria for judging quality of process and outcome.
