Description
To provide students with the knowledge necessary to
develop an awareness of the major historical eras of
dance development in the West, from the Renaissance
to the beginning of the 1900s.

To enable students to visually recognise and
discuss, stylistic characteristics relating to dance
works from the various periods.

To provide students with basic knowledge of the
major dance exponents and their works, in each
particular era.

To encourage students to relate cultural
developments to socio-ideological developments in
history.
