To provide students with the skills necessary to:

- trim and decorate children's clothes to create interest.

- construct attractive garments for children aged 3 to 12
years, using more detailed finishes.

- design and construct pre-teen clothing.

Assignment Garments

- The student will adapt commercial patterns to make a
school uniform suitable for a primary school-aged girl. The garments should be
suitable for summer, and be accompanied by a written submission explaining the
design and fabric choice.

Make a party dress of lightweight fabric
incorporating tucks, lace, ribbon and frills.

Make a pair of jeans for a boy or girl (see
Topic 5 for details).

50% of the work must be done in class under the
lecturer's supervision.

- Produce a comprehensive file of samples of work covered in
the course.
