Description
To develop communication skills identified in
Communication (Common Core) unit.
To develop oral, reading and writing skills,
appropriate to students anticipating a technical
apprenticeship or similar vocation.
To provide opportunities for the development of
attitudes, appropriate to interpersonal situations
in their vocation.
To develop an independently motivated remedial
approach to a student's communication problems,
especially in the mechanics of writing.

Internal Assessment
Portfolio
The compilation of a Portfolio suitable for submission to a prospective
employer. The Portfolio should include:
- Data Sheet
- Samples of written work (memo or letter)
- Three samples of workshop models or other practical
records of work (photographs or drawings may be substituted). Each sample
should be accompanied by a technical
description. 20 marks
Presentation
A presentation of the Portfolio to a panel of two or more people
OR
An explanation and demonstration of a vocationally relevant technical
report. 10 marks
Technical Reading and Writing
A series of exercises to test the ability to read
and write technical material, as outlined in Topics
3, 4, 5 and 6. 20 marks
Examination
One two-hour examination 50 marks
