To introduce the student to the topic of Numerical
Analysis.
To enable the student to gain an understanding of how Numerical Methods work.
To develop an awareness of the limitations imposed

- Mathematical assumptions
- Computational difficulties
To give the student practice in solving problems

- An essay of at least 800 words on a topic dealing with the
application of numerical analysis

- A class test on Topics 1-3 15%
- A class test on Topics 4-6 15%

One three hour examination 50%
To pass in this subject students must achieve at
least 40% of the marks allocated to each of the
three components as well as an aggregate mark of 50%
or more.
