Description
To analyse, evaluate and compare the effectiveness
of advanced techniques, methods and procedures
utilised in Word Processing systems including
Problem Solving and time saving decision-making when
using equipment's automatic functions.
To demonstrate proficiency on a different system to
that used in Word Processing 1A - 1B by the
completion of Word Processing 2B.
To analyse and evaluate the working environment and
associated implications.
To further develop advanced applications in word
processing systems as measured by timed written
evaluations, project work and assessments.
To analyse tasks and decide on the most appropriate
format and procedure for their production.
To apply word processing technology using documents
as would occur in a word processing environment -
long and short documents.
To apply theoretical information in relation to a
wide variety of topics - from the various methods by
which information is reproduced, communicated and
distributed, stored and retrieved, to the
relationship of the employee to the environment and
procedures of the modern office.
To become familiar with machine reference manuals
and apply the information contained therein as
required to complete assignments.
To proofread carefully and evaluate the quality of
own work.

Semester Examination:
- 1 x 2 hour examination on practical applications selected
from syllabus (Marked within the College) Students must attain 32 marks out of
40 marks in order to achieve a pass grade in this
examination. 40%
- 1 x 1 hour written examination paper selected from
syllabus (Marked divisionally). Students must attain 20 marks out of the 40 in
order to achieve a pass grade in this
examination. 40%
- One Report on comparing and contrasting two word
processing systems, the final copy to be produced from a word processing
system. Students must attain 16 marks out of 20 in order to achieve a pass
grade in this examination. (Marked within the Coll
ege.) 20%
- Students must attempt sections 1 and 2 at first sitting of
the examination and must achieve a pass grade in all examination requirements
as per 1, 2 and 3 above. However, if only one section (1 or 2) is passed, a
second attempt may be made at the failed section the following semester in
order to gain a total pass grade.
