One two hour written paper consisting of the following components:
- Six questions relating to the following topics:
- character string manipulation
- data structuring
- format control of I/O lists
- I/O operations on files
- functions of system utilities
- the runtime environment

- Design and coding of sub-programs
40%
Internal Assessment
Programming assignments requiring design, coding and
testing of code sequences, according to a written
specification.
- Definition of sub-programs derived from the Applications
list 15%
- A programme which requires structuring with sub-programs,
and the structuring of data. This application to be
numeric 10%
