To provide learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality
care and support to people with dementia and their carers.

Range of Variables
This module can be delivered either through an open learning mode or in a group
context. If delivered in a group context, no more than 25 learners should be
included.
Delivery of this module should take into account different cultural
perspectives on the nature of dementia and consider different cultural
backgrounds in caregiving approaches.
It is desirable that guest speakers from dementia programs and services be
invited to speak.
Delivery of this module must emphasise individual differences in terms of the
impact of dementia on people.
Lecturers must have a qualification in the behavioural sciences and/or
experience in the area of dementia care.
