Final Interpreting Practice
examination. 20%
In the final examination, the student
is tested on dialogue-interpreting, in
an individual-free role-play situation.
There is one dialogue, lasting
approximately ten minutes, between a
professional and the client. The

segments (35 words maximum), but the
candidate is expected to demonstrate
the ability to control the situation.
Examining is according to NAATI
guidelines, and 70% is the minimum
required, for NAATI accreditation. All
examination interviews are videotaped.
Examining is carried out by the panel,
consisting of the course co-ordinator,
a lecturer representing each area of
the course, e.g. English for
Interpreters, representatives from
NAATI, the Course Advisory Committee,
WA Deaf Society.
Continuous Assessment
Is based on the student's weekly
performance, during the "Interpreting
