Description
To nurture a practical understanding of dance
through the study of improvisation, composition and
repertoire.

To encourage and develop spontaneous interaction with other people in dance.

To develop an awareness of the space between people.

To introduce students to individual and group
improvisation.

To encourage students to improvise dance statements drawing from internal
aspects of their own life, from external portrayals (animals, natural forces),
from western or traditional contexts.

To develop an analytical awareness of the various
elements that constitute a dance statement:
movement, sequence, duration, space, and rhythm.

To develop critical audience appreciation of
movement solutions to dance problems.
