To provide students with the basic knowledge to
select fabrics and styles and to construct babywear
garments suitable for the newborn to three year old
age group.

The student will design and make:
- A group of at least five garments for a new born baby (0
to 6 months) e.g. nightgown, bonnet, bib, singlet, sleeping bag etc.
- A girl's dress and pants or a boy's suit for a child of 12
months to 3 years of age (the outfit may include additional garments such as a
hat, petticoat or apron). Garments should be selected to show a high degree of
skill in construction and trimming techniques.
These garments should:
- Be of suitable style and fabric for the required age.
- Be accompanied by a written explanation of the design,
fabric choice and age group.
50% of the garments must be made under the
lecturer's supervision.
A sample file - a comprehensive record of all
required processes to be completed and mounted.

1 hour internal theory test 20%
