To develop in the student a caring
attitude and a sound body of knowledge
concerning:
- The techniques for Guiding Behaviour of children 0-6 years
- An understanding of children's needs relating to daily
routines
- The basic skills in presenting appropriate activities and
play materials to young children in a variety of practical situations, both
indoors and out
- The technique for setting up and maintaining a suitable
environment for young children.
- The development of skills for communicating with young
children.

Suggested projects as follows:
- Collate a resource file which includes at least five
useful and practical sections of ideas to assist in work with children
- Make a teaching aid for use during language experiences
- Create a toy from scrap materials
- Plan a daily timetable that caters for children 0-6 years,
which includes routine time procedures such as meals, rest, toileting, etc.
Record how these routines are carried out and how the approach affects the child
- List the toys and materials that should be provided to
cater for the child's developmental needs. Write a short essay on the
importance of play
- Make a selection of musical aids
- Convert negative sentences into positive statements for
the promotion of sound communication
- Test.
