This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify and interpret digital and analogue time.

The unit of competency is applied by individuals who use time management and time reading skills for work, training and/or personal purposes.

This unit targets Numeracy at ACSF Levels 1 and 2.

Read and use time measuring devices
  • 1.1 Use a time measuring device to describe details about a personally relevant time or date
  • 1.2 Locate time information in simple tables and charts
  • 1.3 Create a personal diary or timetable indicating the times of events for both digital and analogue time
Read time from a digital display
  • 2.1 Name units of time
  • 2.2 Read numbers on a digital display
  • 2.3 Identify numbers indicating the hour
  • 2.4 Identify numbers indicating minutes
  • 2.5 Tell time from a digital display
  • 2.6 Recognise time on a 12-hour digital clock
  • 2.7 Recognise time on a 24-hour digital clock
Read time from an analogue display
  • 3.1 Identify the function of each hand on a clock face
  • 3.2 Tell time from an analogue clock
Use basic time conventions
  • 4.1 Identify how many seconds in a minute
  • 4.2 Identify how many minutes in an hour
  • 4.3 Identify how many days in a week
  • 4.4 Identify approximately how many weeks in a month
