and Automation Equipment and Systems on board a modern ship as Marine Engineers
Class 2. Provide a foundation for any learner wishing to pursue study in
automatic control for higher engineering qualifications in the maritime
industry.
Range of Variables
This module is to be taught in a classroom with access to c complete range of
audio visual presentation equipment. Practical demonstration equipment capable
of being used by the instructor to illustrate points and subsequently by the
learners to reinforce points, must be available.

Evidence Guide
Internal Assessment 100%

The assessment of this module is holistic in nature and requires assessing on
the integration of skills and knowledge. To be successful in this Section of
the module, the learner must show evidence of achievement of the module
purpose. This approach enables the assessment to be carried out by different
means to achieve an holistic outcome.

The assessment scheme is generally designed to ensure that critical knowledge
and skills are assessed more than once and in a variety of ways throughout the
module’s assessment events. This provides a valid assessment of the learner’s
abilities and avoids misrepresentation of failures caused by single cases of
poor performance.

Assessment methods include:

- Assignments performed under supervision

- Descriptive type questions within the final assessment
