One two-hour written paper 70%
Internal assessment (2 items) 30%
Students must pass the written paper.
Where a pass is achieved in the written paper, the
overall mark is the sum of the two components,
weighted as shown above.
Otherwise, the overall mark is determined by 100%
weighting for the written paper.
Written Examination (70%)
Five questions relating to the following topics:
- context switching
- macros and conditional assembly
- data and procedure structures
- system configuration
- program segments and assembler/linker
operations (10% each)
Design of a procedure (25%)
Software design concepts (25%)
Internal Assessment Requirements (30%)
Programming assignments requiring design, coding and
testing of code sequences according to a written
specification.
- Exercises involving inter-language calls, trapping, and use of system
calls. (10%)
- Participation in a group project relating to software
development and employing a wide range of system and language
features (20%)
