Description
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required by a farrier in the preparation of the foot of a normal healthy horse with no obvious problems, and the application of standard shoes, which have been hot or cold, fitted. Standard shoes include any shoe, which is regularly applied, and involves application methods, which can include the placement of stud holes on performance. A range of normal healthy horses should be fitted, including pleasure, eventing and show jumping horses.
This unit forms part of the requirements of the trade qualification for farriery.
