This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement hygiene practices that maintain the health of children and caregivers.
The unit of competency is applied by caregivers who prepare and serve food, maintain the cleanliness of physical environments, including the disposal of waste, and identify and support children who are unwell. They also teach personal hygiene practices to children to support their health.
