Description
To provide students with introductory practical
microcomputer skills for use in business.

OR

To revise introductory computer skills learned at school or in Business
Computer Applications A & B

AND

To develop skills in using and evaluating different accounting and payroll
applications with a view to making purchase and implementation decisions.

Internal Assessment 100%

Continuous assessment by Lecturer in microcomputer
workshop.

Assessment should consist of tests of mastery of the
various computer applications packages used.

Students must demonstrate mastery of a microcomputer
operating system, word processing, spreadsheets,
database management, at lease one commercially
available integrated accounting package and one
payroll package to pass the subject.

Progress through the syllabus topics is dependant on
mastery of software packages.

All accounting applications must conform with
generally accepted accounting principles and
standards.

Written internal assessments should be used to test the software evaluation
aspects of the course.

Copies of class tests and students computer output
should be retained by the class lecturer for
moderation by the subject co-ordinator if required.
