This unit describes the introductory skills and knowledge required to adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements. It recognising safety signs, selecting personal protective equipment and understanding essential emergency and evacuation procedures.

The unit of competency is applied by individuals who maintain their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in a workplace.
