Description
To enable students to:
- develop skills in the design and working of traditional
embroidery techniques for embellishing garments;
- learn the art of smocking;
- research and develop skills in the art of cross stitch and
Assisi work;
- develop skills in beading;
- examine the art of re-embroidery;
- research and examine the art of constructing braids,
cords, fringes and tassels.

Project 1

OPTION 1 - One garment, accessory or article
featuring a substantial amount of embroidery using
the basic embroidery stitches, English smocking,
cross stitch or Assisi work.

OR

OPTION 2 - Two garments, accessories, or articles featuring a lesser amount
of embroidery. The first using the basic embroidery stitches or English
smocking, the second using cross stitch or Assisi work.

Project 2

OPTION 1 - One garment, accessory or article
featuring a substantial amount of embroidery using
beading and/or re-embroidery.

OR

OPTION 2 - Two garments, accessories or articles featuring a lesser amount of
embroidery. The first using beading, the second using re-embroidery.

A substantial amount of the embroidery on these
garments must be done in class time under the
lecturer's supervision.
