To provide students with a broad understanding of
the role of transport and its social, political and
economic considerations.

To explain to students the interdependence of the
modes of transport and the interface between them.

To enable students to gain a knowledge of rail
transport - the types of motive power, rolling stock
and services, the marketing and commercial policies
and strategies, fare and freight determination and
impact of new technology also social and political
attitudes.

To give students an overview of conveyor, pipeline and tramway transport.
