Description

Transport is a major industry in any modern
developed society, and this is evidenced by the
amount of capital invested, and the number of people
employed.
Because of the economic significance of transportation, there
is an obvious need for persons trained in the wider aspects of transport
administration. Two major aspects of training programs include:

-
training for advancement, either through greater
efficiency in a more congenial task, or for promotion.

-
training for management, so that there are always enough
individuals who understand the working of the organisation as a whole, its
relation to the needs of the community, and modern practices of administration.

Although many organisations provide in-service
courses of specialised forms of training, it is only
recently that approved courses, on a wider basis,
have been established.
