Description
This unit describes the basic skills and knowledge required by EAL learners to engage in short spoken interactions. It focuses on engaging with another person and responding to short, basic everyday spoken information and simple everyday instructions in familiar and immediate social contexts.

The outcomes described in this unit relate to:
- The Australian Core Skill Framework (ACSF). They contribute to the achievement of ACSF indicators of competence in Oral Communication at Pre Level 1
and
- the ISLPR (International Second Language Proficiency Ratings) descriptors for Speaking and Listening. They partly contribute to the achievement of Speaking 1 and Listening 1.
