Description
To teach the purposes of the major components, or
assemblies, of typical industrial and agricultural
plant equipment, safe working procedures, and the
theoretical knowledge required for repair and
diagnostic skills.

Internal Practical Assessment 100%

Examination will consist of one paper, at the
completion of the three-week block of training. The
examination is to be of two hours' duration, and
will comprise of:

Seventy objective type questions 70 marks
Six short essay type questions 30 marks

Graphics - A mark for graphics will be awarded by
continual assessment, and expressed as a percentage.

Practical - The practical mark is to be an
assessment of the students attitude, involvement and
interest displayed in theory, demonstration and
practical sessions throughout each stage of
training, and is to be expressed as a percentage.

NOTE: Practical objectives throughout this syllabus, indicate the tasks
which will be carried out during practical training sessions. It is not
intended that all students be individually assessed in each practical objective.

Formula

A certificate percentage mark for the block of training, will be arrived at by
the following formula: (Theory x 0.9) + (Graphics x 0.1) = Cert. %.

The examination results are to be the certificate
percentage for the stage.

Certificate of Trade Studies

To be eligible for this certificate, an apprentice
must reach a pass standard in the certificate
percentage at the end of each stage.

Privileged Re-examination - may be granted
on the recommendation of a Board of Review, when the
practical assessment is satisfactory.

NOTE: A separate privileged re-examination will be normally set.

Students granted a privileged examination, will not
be required to repeat the three-week period of
training.

The examination will consist of one paper of two hours' duration, and will
comprise of:

Seventy objective type questions 70 marks
Six short essay type questions 30 marks
