Description
To provide training to effectively meet the needs of indigenous children in group care settings in a culturally appropriate manner.
Range of Variables
A range of delivery strategies may be used and it is recommended that a combined approach be adopted. This may incorporate lectures, tutorial workshops, group discussions, individual research, visits to Indigenous organisations, guest speakers, audio-visual presentations and cross cultural experiences.

It is recommended that consultation with appropriate Indigenous organisations and communities be carried out.

It is recommended that staff members have cross cultural skills with qualifications in education, child care, history, social sciences or Indigenous Studies.

It is highly desirable that some staff members are indigenous people.

A suitable learning environment off-the-job and on-the-job is required to provide the learner with peer contact and appropriate role models.

Access to Indigenous people.

Access to library and research facilities, audio visual equipment and computer facilities.
