Description
To increase the student's operational skills and
awareness in the current fast-moving world of office
automation by developing the student's understanding
of:

- Equipment and operational procedures associated with the automated
office.

- The implications of working within a totally automated
environment.

Internal Assessment 100%

The student will be assessed on classroom/workshop
performance throughout the course by teacher
observation and assignments.

The student is then eligible to attempt an internal
assessment. The assessment will take place under controlled conditions.

To successfully pass, the student must attain an 80%
pass mark.

The student will also be required to undertake a
theory assessment.

The total mark of 100 will be allocated as follows:

- Equipment Operation 50 Marks

Consisting of practical skills on equipment
operation.

- Module 1 - 16 marks Electronic Mail
- Module 2 - 16 marks Desk Management
- Module 3 - 18 marks Auxiliary Features

- Job Simulation Exercise 30 Marks

TOTAL 100 Marks

Students must obtain a pass mark of at least 80% in
each of the three areas to successfully complete the
course.

NOTE: The syllabus is presented in three modules plus a revision
module. Each module will deal with a different facet of the automated office.
Once the student has learnt operational procedures for each module he/she will
be required to process work-oriented applications incorporating all of the
functions associated with the automated office.

Exposure to spreadsheeting, videotext,
microfiche, facsimile and any other
relevant automated equipment is desirable.

When covering the practical content it
will be necessary to incorporate theory
applicable to the tasks being performed in
each unit.
