Evidence Guide
One two hour written paper 70%
Internal Assessment 30%

Students must pass the written paper.
Where a pass is achieved in the written paper, the
overall mark is the sum of the two components,
weighted as shown above. Otherwise, the overall
mark is determined by 100% weighting for the written
paper.

Written Examination 70%

The examination will consist of:

- 3 questions on the theory related to:

- data representation
- arithmetic expressions and control structures
- data organisation and address arithmetic

- 1 question on problem solving requiring design of a
modularised program

- 1 question requiring coding from a given design.

Each question will be worth 20%.

Internal Assessment Requirements 30%

- Simple design and programming exercises involving numeric
calculations, array manipulation and formatted screen input and
output 15%

- Design and code a modularised program involving file I/O,
single dimensioned array processing and report
generation 15%
