Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit
- Plan and monitor progress in extending own aural-perception skills.
- Individually notate, replicate and execute harmony on at least three occasions.
- Recognise and analyse advanced musical elements accurately.
Context of and specific resources for assessment
The following examples provide assessment conditions appropriate for this unit:
- Peer/3rd party reports of simulated performance
- evaluation of practice or live or recorded performances
- verbal or written questioning to test knowledge as listed in the required skills and knowledge section of this unit
- direct observation of candidate practising and using aural perception skills.
Method of assessment
Assessment methods should closely reflect workplace performance demands as far as possible. Where real live performance opportunities are not available simulated performance can be offered. It is important for assessment that delivery of the unit offers multiple opportunities for practice and performance of aural skills of increasing difficulty specific to musical theatre.
