Description
To identify the role of different types of
mathematical models.

To demonstrate the range of problems from a wide
variety of different application areas which can be
modelled mathematically, and to illustrate the scope
of tasks which can be addressed mathematically.

To encourage students to use their mathematical
skills obtained in other units, to solve real world
problems, using a mathematical modelling approach.

To give students the opportunity to work
co-operatively on problem-solving tasks.

To encourage students to use computers to simulate
real world situations, in order to solve associated
problems.
