Description
To enable students to make a variety of hats and
headwear with the minimum of specialised equipment.

To develop the skills of making and trimming
stitched fabric hats and berets and the blocking,
making up and trimming of felt hats.

Internal Assessment 100%

The student will produce six hats of which 50% of
the work must be done in class under the lecturer's
supervision. The hats will be:

- two felt hats with feature trimming
30%

- two crown and brim hats with lining and headband, made
from the flat pattern method 25%

- two berets with feature trimming
20%

A sample file, being a comprehensive record of hat
construction and trimming, showing all processes
covered in the course. 25%
