Description
This qualification covers work activities undertaken by a cross-section of animal care and management enterprises such as assistant animal care worker, assistant animal shelter attendant, assistant kennel hand and assistant cattery attendant.
No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, an individual unit of competency may specify relevant licensing, legislative and/or regulatory requirements. Specific determination should be sought through the relevant State or Territory.

Packaging Rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:- seven (7) units of competency:
- five (5) core units plus
- two (2) elective units.
Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome. The electives are to be chosen as follows:
- two (2) units from the ACM Animal Care and Management Training Package or from any other currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.
