Packaging Rules

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
To gain entry into this qualification, candidates must demonstrate competence through a recognised training program or recognition process, in the following units of competency from the Certificate III in Mortuary Practice:
- BSBFLM303C Contribute to effective workplace relationships
- HLTAMBPD401C Manage personal stressors in the work environment
- HLTAP301B Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context
- HLTHIR301C Communicate and work effectively in health
- HLTHIR403C Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
- HLTHIR404D Work effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people
- HLTIN301C Comply with infection control policies and procedures
- HLTMS208D Handle waste in a health care environment
- HLTMT303D Maintain a mortuary service
- HLTMT304D Assist with autopsy
- HLTMT306D Maintain, clean and store autopsy equipment
- HLTMT307B Clean location to achieve low bacteria status
- HLTMT310D Collect, preserve and store post mortem samples
- HLTWHS300A Contribute to WHS processes

PACKAGING RULES
Twelve (12) units of competency are required for award of this qualification, including:
- eight (8) core units
- four (4) elective units

A wide range of elective units is available, including:
- Group A elective which is required for work in mortuary theatre practice at this level
- Group B electives which are recommended for culturally aware and respectful practice
- Other relevant electives listed in the qualification outline
- Units of competency to address workplace requirements and packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in Health and/or Community Services Training Packages
- Where appropriate, to address workplace requirements, up to two (2) units of competency packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in other relevant Training Packages or accredited courses where the details of those courses are available on TGA or other public listing
