Description
This qualification covers workers who have role in the maintenance of, or who undertake a supervisory or senior role in a hospital or forensic mortuary or are involved with a tissue banking service
Occupational titles for these workers may include:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTSTo gain entry into HLT51912 Diploma of Mortuary Theatre Practice a candidate must demonstrate competence through a recognised training program or recognition process, in the following units of competency from the HLT41612 Certificate IV in Mortuary Practice:
HLTAP401B Confirm physical health status
HLTHIR402D Contribute to organisational effectiveness in the health industry
HLTHIR506C Implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements
HLTMT407D Assist with special autopsy techniques
HLTMT408D Assist with forensic autopsy techniques
HLTMT409D Assist in the development of procedures for mortuary services
HLTWHS300A Contribute to WHS processes
MSL934002A Apply quality system and continuous improvement processes
PACKAGING RULES
Ten (10) units of competency are required for award of this qualification, including:
- six (6) core units
- four (4) elective units
A wide range of elective units is available, including:
- Group A electives which are recommended for culturally aware and respectful practice
- Other relevant electives listed
- Units of competency to address workplace requirements and packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in Health and/or Community Services Training Packages
- Where appropriate, to address workplace requirements, up to two (2) units of competency packaged at the level of this qualification or higher in other relevant Training Packages or accredited courses where the details of those courses are available on TGA or other public listing
