This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to cure concrete in Civil Construction.This unit is appropriate for those working in operational roles. No licensing, legislation or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to cure concrete
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply concrete curing documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear correct personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • 1.5 Identify and apply relevant project specifications
  • 1.6 Identify, obtain, confirm and implement signage and barrier requirements
  • 1.7 Select and check for faults to plant, tools and equipment
2. Cure concrete
  • 2.1 Cure concrete to project specifications
  • 2.2 Install and maintain run-off devices
  • 2.3 Apply and maintain curing compound and curing technique/method on concrete surface to project specifications
  • 2.4 Isolate and/or barricade the area to protect concrete during curing process
  • 2.5 Monitor movements and hazards and identify and communicate changes to the work environment during the work process
3. Clean up
  • 3.1 Clean work area and dispose of, reuse or recycle materials
  • 3.2 Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored
