This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to cure concrete in civil construction, including installing and maintaining runoff devices and isolating work areas.It applies to those working in operational roles. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to cure concrete
- 1.1 Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to cure concrete and confirm work activity is compliant
- 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
- 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment according to site requirements
- 1.5 Identify, obtain, confirm and implement signage and barrier requirements
- 1.6 Select and check for faults to plant, tools and equipment
2. Cure concrete
- 2.1 Cure concrete according to job requirements
- 2.2 Install and maintain run-off devices according to job requirements
- 2.3 Apply and maintain curing compound and curing technique on concrete surface according to job requirements
- 2.4 Isolate and/or barricade work area according to site requirements and confirm concrete protection during curing process
- 2.5 Monitor movements and hazards and identify and communicate changes to work environment according to site requirements
3. Conduct clean-up activities
- 3.1 Clean work area and dispose of, reuse or recycle materials according to site requirements
- 3.2 Clean, check, maintain and store tools and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
