Description
This unit of competency specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely select, check, maintain and store concreting plant, tools and equipment used for concreting work on residential, commercial, civil and industrial construction work sites.It includes the ability to check and maintain concreting plant, hand and power tools and other concreting equipment in preparation for concreting work.It applies to specialist concreters working as members of a team.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to this unit of competency in some states. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm these requirements.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Select concreting plant, tools and equipment.
- 1.1 Review and clarify concreting task and identify requirements for concreting plant, tools and equipment.
- 1.2 Select concreting plant, tools and equipment, check for serviceability and rectify or report any faults.
- 1.3 Review manufacturers’ specifications for concreting plant tools and equipment for safe use, maintenance and storage.
- 1.4 Review workplace, work health and safety (WHS) and environmental requirements for using, cleaning, maintaining and storing concreting plant tools and equipment.
2. Use concreting plant, tools and equipment.
- 2.1 Fit personal protective equipment and install safety signage and barriers required during use of selected concreting plant tools and equipment.
- 2.2 Use concreting hand tools safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
- 2.3 Use concreting plant, tools and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
3. Clean, maintain and store concreting plant, tools and equipment.
- 3.1 Clean, maintain and store concreting hand tools and safety equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
