This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to position and install sunroofs in vehicles or machinery. It involves preparing for the task, selecting tools and equipment, installing vehicle sunroof to manufacturer specifications and completing workplace procedures and documentation.It applies to those who undertake routine installation tasks in the automotive service and repair industry.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare to install, vehicle sunroof
  • 1.1 Determine job requirements according to workplace instructions
  • 1.2 Access and interpret original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications and product installation instructions
  • 1.3 Select installation option according to identified job requirements
  • 1.4 Identify hazards and environmental issues associated with work tasks, assess potential risks and implement control measures in line with workplace policies and procedures
  • 1.5 Select and source equipment according to job requirements
  • 1.6 Check equipment for serviceability
2. Install and test vehicle sunroof
  • 2.1 Install sunroof according to manufacturer specifications, workplace procedures and safety requirements
  • 2.3 Conduct post-installation testing of sunroof functionality according to workplace procedures
  • 2.4 Test sunroof sealing and adjust where required, in accordance with workplace policies and procedures
  • 2.5 Conduct final inspection and confirm vehicle is ready for use in line with road safety standards
