Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to coordinate environmental health operations as a member of the Australian Defence Force (ADF).It includes planning and implementing environmental health tasking.This unit applies to Defence personnel required to provide environmental health support.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit work independently and perform complex tasks in a range of familiar contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan environmental health tasking
  • 1.1 Obtain and clarify environmental health support instructions as required, in accordance with relevant stakeholders
  • 1.2 Confirm task objectives are consistent with identified health threat and operating environment
  • 1.3 Determine tasking allocation in accordance with operational requirements and priorities
  • 1.4 Allocate resources to tasks in accordance with tasking allocation and operational procedure
  • 1.5 Identify hazards, assess risks and implement appropriate control measures, as required
  • 1.6 Issue environmental health tasking to relevant personnel in accordance with operational procedures
2 Implement and monitor environmental health tasking
  • 2.1 Liaise with relevant stakeholders to obtain environmental health tasking plan approval
  • 2.2 Execute tasks in accordance with health tasking plan and operational procedures
  • 2.3 Monitor progress and review task outcomes during the activity as required, in accordance with operational priorities, time requirements and resource allocation
  • 2.4 Communicate technical advice relating to environmental health tasking to relevant stakeholders, as required
