Description
This unit describes skills and knowledge required to manage the implementation and operation of show control systems that store, play back and control staging inputs in a programmed sequence. It involves confirming production requirements, coordinating show control activities and completing tasks to wrap-up operations.The unit applies to those who display a high level of initiative, judgement and responsibility as they liaise with clients to find show control solutions that meet the creative requirements of productions, presentations, displays or installations in the screen, media, entertainment and events industries.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Clarify show control brief
  • 1.1 Analyse documentation and information about projects or productions that require show control operations
  • 1.2 Discuss ways of realising creative vision for projects from a show control perspective with required personnel
  • 1.3 Reflect on issues raised in discussions and develop draft plans for implementing show control that address production requirements
  • 1.4 Reach agreement on plans after discussion with required personnel and revision of draft plans as required
2. Coordinate the implementation of show control
  • 2.1 Brief required personnel on implementation issues as required
  • 2.2 Supervise input of cues into show control systems according to plans and timelines
  • 2.3 Discuss and agree on changes to plans as required
  • 2.4 Supervise show control operations during technical run-throughs and fine tune aspects of show control as required
  • 2.5 Confirm final show control operations meet production, presentation, installation, and health and safety requirements
3. Manage post-show operations
  • 3.1 Supervise maintenance and adjustments to equipment as required
  • 3.2 Evaluate effectiveness of show control operations in meeting creative objectives in consultation with required personnel
