Packaging Rules

Total number of units = Fifteen (15)
- Four (4) core units plus
- Eleven (11) elective units, of which
- One (1) elective unit must be selected from Group A
- At least eight (8) elective units must be selected from the electives listed below, with no more than three (3) elective units from Group C

- Two (2) elective units may be from the remaining electives in Groups A, B and/or D, or any currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome.

Units of competency that contain pre-requisites are identified within the Qualification Packaging Rules on the training.gov.au (TGA) website.

Where relevant, the choice of elective units set out in the packaging rules above can serve to provide the qualification with one of the following specialisations. The rules to achieve a specialisation are detailed below.

Specialisations
The achievement of a specialisation will be identified on testamurs as follows:
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Production Design)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Sound)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Vision)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Costume)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Lighting)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Props)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Live Production Management)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Stage Management)
- CUA50425 Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Staging).

Packaging rules to achieve a specialisation:
Production Design
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUASET511 Design sets, CUACOS519 Design costumes and CUAPRP511 Design props.

Sound
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUASOU505 Implement sound designs, CUASOU506 Create a final sound balance and CUASOU512 Manage operation of stage monitor systems.

Vision
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUAVSS511 Design vision systems and CUAVSS502 Implement vision system designs.

Costume
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUACOS515 Coordinate costume manufacture, CUACOS516 Manage an off-site wardrobe department, and CUACOS510 Realise costumes.

Lighting
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUALGT511 Realise lighting designs, CUALGT512 Manage installation of lighting systems, and CUALGT514 Develop lighting designs.

Props
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUAPRP511 Design props, and CUAPRP512 Develop prop construction plans.

Live Production Management
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUAPPM511 Manage small-scale live productions, CUAPPM512 Realise productions, and CUAPPM513 Incorporate creative and technical needs into management processes.

Lighting
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must includeCUALGT511 Realise lighting designs, CUALGT512 Manage installation of lighting systems, and CUALGT514 Develop lighting designs.

Stage Management
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUASMT511 Stage manage productions and events, CUASMT513 Develop and maintain production documents, and CUASMT517 Assist in stage managing and calling performances.

Staging
- Five (5) Group B electives must be selected, and must include CUASTA511 Manage specialist staging operations*, and CUASTA512 Manage show control operations.
