Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to create designs and production specifications for any type of textile product using digital software programs and peripherals. The focus of the unit is the technical skills and knowledge skills and knowledge required to use software to manipulate design elements.This unit applies to design and production personnel.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Establish digital design requirements
  • 1.1 Interpret design information and identify production requirements
  • 1.2 Identify product factors that need to be considered
  • 1.3 Prepare suitable programs and equipment in accordance with software operating functions
2. Use design programs
  • 2.1 Use and manipulate features of design program to create required outputs
  • 2.2 Test designs and production specifications and modify as required
  • 2.3 Assess outputs generated against design specifications and production requirements
3. Check and finalise designs
  • 3.1 Present outputs in appropriate formats to appropriate personnel to assess accuracy and completeness
  • 3.2 Make adjustments or improvements in response to feedback
  • 3.3 Create final outputs and store in accordance with workplace procedures
