This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to respond to a critical incident that may impact the operational effectiveness of a power generation facility's plant or system, endanger human life, damage or destroy property and/or have an adverse impact on the environment.A critical incident refers to a crisis that may result in a high level of risk, directly or indirectly, to the core operations of a power generation facility. A high levelof risk would be determined using the risk management processes outlined in the power generation facility's Risk Management System.Competency in this unit requires the ability to identify a critical incident and consequences, stabilise power generation system, restore power generation system and review response to incident. Individuals will, in general, work as an operator, in a power generation facility.Power generation plant operators are typically trained and authorised to isolate, prepare plant and issue permits to work.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.Note: Workplace practiceThe application of the skills and knowledge described in this unit may require a licence or training permit to practice in the workplace where work is carried out on gas and electrical installations.
