Description
This unit describes the performance outcomes required to service vehicles after their assembly by applying lubricants and fluids and bleeding their air and hydraulic systems.It applies to those in an automotive manufacturing environment and involves the application of skills and knowledge at a production worker level.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Prepare for work
  • 1.1 Identify vehicle service requirements from work orders
  • 1.2 Select tools, equipment and materials relevant to vehicle service requirements
  • 1.3 Check all selected tools, equipment and materials to ensure they are in good working order to meet job requirements
2. Select and use lubricants and fluids
  • 2.1 Select and match lubricants and fluids to vehicle specifications, according to lubrication and fluid data sheets
  • 2.2 Use lubricants and fluids on the identified parts
  • 2.3 Fill reservoirs and mechanical assemblies to specified levels
3. Bleed air and hydraulic systems
  • 3.1 Identify bleeding points for air and hydraulic systems from specification sheets
  • 3.2 Bleed air and hydraulic systems according to workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications
4. Complete work processes
  • 4.1 Identify and report faults to appropriate personnel
  • 4.2 Clean and maintain tools, equipment and work area, identifying, tagging and reporting faulty equipment according to workplace procedures
  • 4.3 Dispose of waste and used materials, ensuring they are disposed of, reused or recycled according to workplace procedures and product specifications
  • 4.4 Complete service checklists and workplace material lists according to workplace procedures
