This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to carry out pavement condition measurement in Civil construction.This unit is appropriate for those working in supervisory roles. Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare for to carry out pavement condition measurement
  • 1.1 Access, interpret and apply pavement condition measurement documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
  • 1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear correct personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
  • 1.5 Identify, obtain, confirm and implement signage requirements
  • 1.6 Select, check and report on faults all tools and equipment to carry out tasks
  • 1.7 Identify and confirm specific task requirements
  • 1.8 Prepare a job plan, in conjunction with relevant team members, which makes best use of the available resources
2. Carry out pavement condition measurement
  • 2.1 Ensure clear, concise and timely verbal and written instructions are communicated to team members and others involved
  • 2.2 Confirm the resources are available
  • 2.3 Supply coaching solutions where tasks require problem solving
  • 2.4 Complete the measurement of pavement condition
  • 2.5 Monitor movements and hazards and identify and communicate changes to the work environment during the work process
3. Complete pavement condition measurement post-operational requirements
  • 3.1 Validate reading recorded by the pavement condition measurement equipment
  • 3.2 Complete and submit written reports as required
  • 3.3 Recommend corrective actions to improve the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of pavement condition measurement.
4. Conduct housekeeping activities
  • 4.1 Ensure the clearing of the work area and disposal of, reuse or recycling of materials
  • 4.2 Clean, check, maintain and store machinery, tools and equipment
