Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to receive, check and record concrete deliveries in civil construction. It includes checking delivery documents for compliance and discharging concrete at specified locations.It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under minimal supervision to undertake a broad range of tasks in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement in selecting equipment, services or contingency measures.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. 1. Plan and prepare to receive, check and record concrete deliveries
  • 1.1 Obtain, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
  • 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required for receiving, checking and recording concrete deliveries and confirm work activity is compliant
  • 1.3 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures
  • 1.4 Select and wear personal protective equipment according to site requirements
  • 1.5 Identify, obtain, confirm and implement signage requirements
  • 1.6 Select plant, tools and equipment required to carry out tasks and check for faults
2. Receive and check concrete deliveries
  • 2.1 Identify survey datum points required to locate material placement
  • 2.2 Check delivery documents against ordered material
  • 2.3 Check delivery docket for compliance with test results
  • 2.4 Check delivery docket for compliance with batching times
  • 2.5 Direct action for non-compliant loads according to site requirements
  • 2.6 Direct concrete delivery vehicle to specified discharge location according to job and site requirements
  • 2.7 Monitor movements and hazards and identify and communicate changes to work environment
3. Discharge concrete
  • 3.1 Maintain safe working area around pour location according to site requirements
  • 3.2 Establish pour location for discharged load according to job and site requirements
  • 3.3 Discharge concrete from delivery vehicle according to job and site requirements
  • 3.4 Discharge concrete to specified placement level according to job requirements
  • 3.5 Assess load for uniformity and consistency according to test results recorded on delivery docket
  • 3.6 Direct delivery vehicle away from pour location according to site requirements
4. Record information
  • 4.1 Record required details from delivery docket according to job and site requirements
  • 4.2 Record time and location of load discharge according to site requirements
  • 4.3 Compete end of day records and dockets according to site requirements and pass on to required site personnel
5. Conduct clean-up activities
  • 5.1 Clean work area and dispose of, reuse or recycle materials according to site requirements
  • 5.2 Clean, check, maintain and store tools and equipment according to manufacturer specifications and site requirements
