Description
This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to implement airside access in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and other relevant authority. It includes implementing airside access procedures and reporting on airside access.This unit addresses aviation non-technical skill requirements (mental, social and personal-management abilities) related to aviation security duties of aviation personnel, and contributes to safe and effective performance in complex aviation operational environments.Operations are conducted as part of recreational, commercial and military aircraft activities across a variety of operational contexts within the Australian aviation industry.Work is performed independently or under limited supervision as a single operator or within a team environment.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements are applicable to this unit.Use for Defence Aviation is to be in accordance with relevant Defence Orders, instructions, publications and regulations.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Implement airside access procedures
  • 1.1 Eligibility for access is determined in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • 1.2 Access is permitted, denied or permitted with conditions
  • 1.3 Vehicle or airside escorts are provided as required
  • 1.4 Problems and irregularities that may occur when implementing airside access procedures are dealt with in accordance with workplace procedures
  • 1.5 Appropriate records are maintained
2 Report on airside access
  • 2.1 Reported access breaches are addressed in accordance with SOPs
  • 2.2 Recommendations and reports on access incidents are made to aerodrome management in accordance with SOPs
