Description
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required by an intelligence supervisor working across the spectrum of strategic, operational and tactical environments.It includes planning, preparing, conducting and finalising intelligence operations.This unit applies to Defence intelligence operatives although it could apply to any personnel working in this field.The skills and knowledge described in this unit must be applied within the legislative, regulatory and policy environment in which they are carried out. Organisational policies and procedures must be consulted and adhered to.Persons undertaking this unit work independently or as part of a team, and perform complex tasks in unfamiliar contexts.No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1 Plan and prepare for intelligence operations
- 1.1 Confirm and maintain competence of subordinates to undertake intelligence operations in accordance with operational procedures
- 1.2 Maintain relevant personnel administration
- 1.3 Clarify orders to determine commander’s intent
- 1.4 Determine and manage constraints relevant to task in accordance with operational procedures
- 1.5 Assemble resources for task and report shortfalls that limit capability to chain of command
- 1.6 Make planning decisions to solve operational problems, based on a logical process
- 1.7 Conduct battle procedure to meet task requirements
- 1.8 Identify hazards, assess risks and implement control measures in accordance with operational procedures
2 Conduct intelligence operations
- 2.1 Prepare and deliver orders and briefs, as required
- 2.2 Direct and supervise subordinates in accordance with operational procedures
- 2.3 Liaise with stakeholders in accordance with operational requirements
- 2.4 Conduct, organise and direct support from outside agencies
- 2.5 Provide intelligence operations technical advice to supervisors and subordinates
3 Finalise intelligence operations
- 3.1 Conduct debriefs in accordance with operational procedures
- 3.2 Conduct post activity analysis and make subsequent recommendations
- 3.3 Manage equipment, stores and explosive ordnance as required, in accordance with operational procedures
- 3.4 Complete documentation in accordance with operational procedures
- 3.5 Monitor and manage subordinate health and wellbeing, and address any identified issues as required
