Description
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish and maintain plant, equipment and infrastructure maintenance system in the resources and infrastructure industries.It applies to those who work in management roles. They are generally responsible for the outcomes of others and contribute to the development of solutions to nonroutine problems.Licensing, legislative and certification requirements may apply to this unit and can vary between states, territories and industry sectors. Users must check requirements with relevant body before applying the unit.

Elements and Performance Criteria
1. Plan and prepare to establish and maintain installation and commissioning procedures
  • 1.1 Obtain, interpret and confirm work requirements
  • 1.2 Access, interpret and apply documentation required to establish and maintain plant, equipment and infrastructure maintenance systems
  • 1.3 Identify, address and establish procedures to manage potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, determine acceptable levels of risk and implement control measures according to workplace procedures
  • 1.4 Ensure the integration of new and existing tools, plant, equipment and processes is planned to minimise downtime
  • 1.5 Design and implement safe operating procedures and systems
  • 1.6 Design and implement plant and equipment installation according to workplace procedures
  • 1.7 Design and implement infrastructure construction/fabrication according to workplace procedures
  • 1.8 Identify training needs of individuals and work groups, develop and implement training plans
  • 1.9 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for emergency situations
2. Develop systems for the maintenance of plant and equipment
  • 2.1 Develop, review and gain approval for the implementation of plant and equipment maintenance procedures and systems
  • 2.2 Develop and implement operational procedures for plant and equipment usage
  • 2.3 Develop and implement plant and equipment maintenance systems documentation according to workplace procedures
  • 2.4 Design and implement procedures for reviewing and modifying maintenance work processes
  • 2.5 Process written reporting requirements according to workplace procedures
3. Establish and maintain systems for the maintenance of worksite infrastructure
  • 3.1 Develop, review and gain approval for the implementation of infrastructure maintenance procedures and systems
  • 3.2 Develop and maintain operational procedures for worksite infrastructure usage according to workplace procedures
  • 3.3 Develop and implement infrastructure maintenance systems documentation according to workplace procedures
  • 3.4 Design and implement procedures for reviewing and modifying work processes

4. Establish and maintain systems for audit and review of maintenance system
