Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals such as open cut or underground metalliferous mine managers, who perform tasks that are broad, specialised, complex and technical and include strategic areas and initiating activities. They are required to demonstrate self-directed application of theoretical and technical knowledge and initiate solutions to technical problems or management requirements.

Packaging Rules
The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.

The qualification has core and elective units of competency requirements that cover the skills for two specialist streams. The core and elective unit requirements of one of the following specialisations must be met for this qualification to be awarded.
- Open Cut
- Underground

The achievement of a specialisation will be identified on testamurs as follows:
- RII60120 Advanced Diploma of Metalliferous Mining (Open Cut)
- RII60120 Advanced Diploma of Metalliferous Mining (Underground).

To be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Metalliferous Mining (Open Cut) the following packaging rules apply:
Total number of units = fourteen (14)
- Eight (8) core units plus
- Six (6) elective units, of which:
- Two (2) must be from Group A
- at least two (2) must be chosen from Group C
- no more than two (2) may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

To be awarded the Advanced Diploma of Metalliferous Mining (Underground) the following packaging rules apply:
Total number of units = fourteen (14)
- Eight (8) core units plus
- Six (6) elective units, of which:
- Three (3) must be from Group B
- at least two (2) must be from Group C
- no more than one (1) may be from elsewhere in this or any other currently endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the overall integrity of the AQF alignment, not duplicate the outcome of another unit chosen for the qualification, and contribute to a valid industry-supported vocational outcome.

The elective bank contains both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work in the resources and infrastructure industry. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.

There are no prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.
